For National Car Care Month, you owe it to your vehicle to make sure its in great condition. This guide, courtesy of our Mazda service center, goes over the key maintenance areas to focus on.

Engine

How do you keep your engine running well? It’s simple: regular oil changes. Oil flows through the engine to lubricate moving parts. When it gets old, however, it gets thick and degrades, so it can’t do its job properly. This is why you should change it every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, or every six months, here at Heritage Mazda Bel Air. We can also replace filters, perform inspections of the engine, and more!

Tires

Tires need to be rotated regularly to ensure they wear evenly. This is the best way to get them to last. Tires also have to be at the right pressure level to offer optimal performance, as well a good gas mileage. While you’re at it, you may also want to consider having the wheel alignment checked.

Battery

Do you know how old your battery is? If you’ve been driving your vehicle for several years without battery replacement, you may be due soon. This is why checking its charge and overall condition is something you will want to do on a regular basis.

Brakes

You should also have your brakes looked at least once every year, especially if you do a lot of stop-and-go driving. Over time, brake pads wear down and need to be replaced. Corrosion can also occur, especially if you haven't been driving as much.

Air Conditioning

With temperatures starting to climb in Fallston, MD, you don’t want to be stuck without a working AC unit. The system should get a good once-over, and coolant should be added if need be.
