Even with things opening back up and regulations relaxing, you may not be eager to get back into the office. While working from home has a lot of advantages, you also get to avoid the daily commute.

Plus, you’re not putting wear and tear on your car. Even so, basic car service can’t be overlooked, and this includes oil change service

Why Do I Need to Change My Oil if I Don't Drive as Often?

While it would be nice if oil stayed in pristine condition forever, this just isn’t the case. When a car runs, the oil flows through the engine, keeping parts lubricated. Eventually, it gets thick and gums up the works, which is why it has to be changed.

When it just sits in the engine, it also stops doing its job properly over time. Old oil degrades and loses its viscosity, and when this happens, the engine won’t be able to perform as well. Bad oil will ultimately cause engine problems too.

How Often Should I Change My Oil?

In terms of mileage, 3,000-6,000 is typically the recommendation depending on your vehicle and your driving habits. But because mileage hasn’t really applied for many people over the last year, a time interval is more pertinent.

You should be getting your oil changed twice a year, or every six months!
