Every year it seems like Mazda comes out with something new, whether it’s some nifty additions to its current cars or a new model. For 2022, it’s the latter, as the Mazda CX-50 is being added to the lineup. Get to know this new SUV now!

The first thing you’ll probably notice about the Mazda CX-50 is that it looks a little different than other Mazda SUVs. Its front has a squared-off shape, and the headlights and taillights have a unique design. And thanks to its silver and black wheels and black plastic cladding around the wheel wells, the Mazda CX-50 has a very bold appearance. Plus, the front and rear bumper trim is meant to look like skid plates, adding to its rugged look.

A 2.5-liter inline-four engine is standard in the Mazda CX-50, and it produces 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The other option you will have is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. With either engine, you will get a six-speed automatic transmission. i-Activ AWD® comes standard.

One of the very nice things about the Mazda CX-50 is that it lets drivers customize how they drive with various modes. You’ll be able to adjust things like throttle response, steering feedback, and the tuning of the G-vectoring control system. Superb on the pavement, the Mazda CX-50 can also be taken out to more interesting areas. In addition to all-terrain tires, it comes with an off-road drive mode.

If you want to take the Mazda CX-50 out for a spin to see what it can do, just come down to Heritage Mazda Bel Air for a test drive.
